    Signing without a printer

The old routine was print, sign, scan, send. For everyday paperwork, like a rental agreement, a school form, a work approval or a delivery confirmation, signing the PDF directly is faster and gives a cleaner file.

    Draw it or type it

Draw your signature in the box with a mouse, a trackpad or your finger. On a phone, finger signatures usually look the most natural. It's added to the page as you drew it, in dark blue ink, without a frame. Type is the quick alternative: your name appears in a framed signature box. Either way, today's date can be added underneath, or left out.

    Where to place it

Choose the page and the position. Most documents are signed at the bottom of the last page. Hebrew documents often have the signature line on the left, English documents on the right. Open the result and check that the signature doesn't cover any text. If it does, try a different position.

    Is it legally valid?

A visible signature like this is accepted for many everyday documents, as long as both sides agree to work this way. Some documents require a certified electronic signature, backed by a digital certificate, for example certain government and banking forms. If you're not sure, ask whoever requested the signature which kind they accept. The guide to signing PDFs covers the options.

    After signing

To make sure the signed document isn't changed after you send it, add a password with Password protect PDF.
