How to Extract a Single Page from a Long PDF
You have a 40-page file and only need to send page 12, the one with the signature, or just one certificate from a whole folder of documents. Instead of sending everything, pull out the page you need into its own file. It takes less than a minute.
Why not send the whole file?
- Privacy: a medical file, an annual report or a full contract contain plenty the recipient doesn't need.
- Upload limits: a small file fits every form.
- Easier for the recipient: a clerk looking for one page among 40 may miss it, or ask again.
How to extract a page
- Open the file in any viewer and find the page number you need. Use the page's position in the file, not the number printed at the bottom. They're not always the same, for example when there's a cover or a table of contents.
- Open Split PDF and upload the file.
- In the page ranges field, type just the number, like
12. - Download the new file.
Several pages in a row
Type a range: 12-15 gives one file with pages 12 to 15.
Several pages that aren't in a row
If you need, say, pages 3, 12 and 20 in one file, do it in two steps:
- In Split PDF, type
3,12,20. Each page comes out as a separate file. - Combine the three files with Merge PDF, in the order you want.
Password-protected file?
If the file needs a password to open, like payslips or bank statements, remove it first with Unlock PDF, then split.
Common uses
- The signature page from a contract, to confirm it was signed.
- A single certificate from a bundle of documents the bank or pension fund sent.
- One page from a long medical summary, for an insurer.
- A chapter from a textbook or workbook, for a student.
Want the page as an image?
For WhatsApp or social media, an image is sometimes easier than a PDF. PDF to JPG turns the page into a JPG or PNG.
